Tesla cars will be sold in India from 2021, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari confirms

Electric vehicle company Tesla will start selling electric cars in India by early 2021. This has been confirmed by Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari. Tesla is the company of Elon Musk. Gadkari told in the Indian Express Idea Exchange Program that Tesla will start operations in India from next year.

He reiterated the emphasis on electric cars in the country and said that many Indian companies are also working on electric vehicles. These vehicles may cost less, but technically they will be as advanced as Tesla vehicles. Gadkari said that Tesla will start operations from the first sale in India. Based on the response received from Indians on Tesla cars, it may later consider assembling and manufacturing cars in India.

Earlier in October, Tesla CEO Elon Musk, responding to a tweet from India, indicated that the company would come to India in 2021. Fans of Tesla cars in India have been waiting for these cars to start selling in the country for a long time. Elon Musk says that the condition applicable in car manufacturing in India that 30% of the material should be local, has pushed back Tesla’s plans to enter the Indian market.
